Abstract

This study aims to analyze the seat dimensions of three types of motorcycles commonly used by students, namely manual underbone motorcycles, scooters, and sport motorcycles, and evaluate their conformity with the ideal body size of riders based on static seating anthropometric data. The method used is a descriptive approach with data collection through direct observation and questionnaires distributed to 100 student respondents who use motorcycles as their mode of transportation. The measured dimensions include seat width, seat height from the footrest, seat length, and seat angle. The results indicate that the seat dimensions of the tested motorcycles do not fully match the ideal size for both male and female riders. Smaller-than-ideal seat dimensions can lead to discomfort, numbness, fatigue, and increased risk of musculoskeletal disorders and poor posture. Therefore, it is recommended that motorcycle seat designs pay more attention to ergonomic factors to enhance rider comfort and reduce potential health risks. This study contributes to the development of motorcycle designs that better accommodate the needs of riders' bodies and serves as a basis for further research in the field of vehicle ergonomics.
