Abstract

Humans were created by Allah SWT in a perfect form, with men and women having equal dignity. The difference between them lies not in the essence of their humanity but in the quality of their faith and piety. The Qur'an clearly emphasizes that both men and women share the same responsibility in building a quality life based on Islamic teachings. There are several issues in fiqh research that are often associated with gender differences, such as testimony and leadership in prayer. These issues open up the space for renewed ijtihad, considering that fiqh is a product of thought that is dynamic and can evolve in response to changes in time and societal needs. Fiqh should be understood as a flexible science capable of adapting to social and cultural developments. This study employs a literature review method, examining various literature related to fiqh, gender roles, and the dynamics of fiqh development. The primary goal of this research is to understand gender equality from a fiqh perspective and to identify scholarly views that are relevant to the needs of contemporary society. It is hoped that this research can provide a deeper understanding of the importance of ijtihad in fiqh and how Islamic law can be applied progressively and relevantly in the context of modern society.
