Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and benefits of practical evaluation in teaching Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Negeri 3 Surakarta, as well as broadening the author's understanding and offering insight to readers. Practical evaluations are held in the mosque area, creating a positive learning atmosphere, so that students more easily accept the material being taught. The evaluation process includes assessing the validity of the prayer, reading and movement requirements, as well as practical exercises related to the Hajj, with the application of a random method to assess students' psychomotor skills and abilities. The advantage of this practical evaluation approach is that it provides a clear picture of students' understanding of Islamic values, helps teachers evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching methods, and encourages students to apply religious teachings in everyday life.  It is hoped that this research can contribute to forming a religious school environment, which supports the development of good character for students.
