Penerapan Teknik Relaksasi Napas Dalam dan Kompres Air Hangat Jahe Terhadap Nyeri Gout Arthritis pada Lansia di Gampong Laksana Kecamatan Kuta Alam Kota Banda Aceh

Abstract

Gout arthritis is a metabolic disease characterized by acute joint inflammation caused by uric acid crystal deposition, commonly associated with a high-purine diet and aging factors. The assessment results showed that Mrs. R had been suffering from gout for the past four years, experiencing persistent pain in the knees, shoulders, and fingers (pain scale 4 NRS) for the last eight months, with a uric acid level of 10.3 mg/dL. The nursing diagnoses established were chronic pain related to musculoskeletal conditions and ineffective health management due to lack of information exposure. Evaluation indicated a decrease in pain scale from 4 NRS to 2 NRS and a reduction in uric acid levels from 10.3 mg/dL to 6.8 mg/dL. These improvements were accompanied by increased understanding of gout, appropriate dietary patterns, and the ability of Mrs. R and her family to perform ginger warm compresses to relieve joint pain. It can be concluded that the nursing interventions implemented have the potential to reduce pain and uric acid levels while enhancing patient independence and understanding, although further research is needed to confirm their effectiveness.
