Gambaran Regulasi Emosi pada Remaja Sekolah Menengah Atas di Banda Aceh

characterized by significant biological, cognitive, and emotional changes. One of the essential skills that adolescents need to develop during this period is emotional regulation. The changes that occur throughout this transitional phase are closely related to emotional regulation, which refers to the ability to apply strategies that modify emotional responses appropriately. This study aims to describe the emotional regulation of adolescents at SMAN 2 Banda Aceh, focusing on two primary strategies: cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. The research design employed a cross-sectional method. A total of 258 students were selected as samples using simple random sampling. The results revealed that the dominant emotional regulation strategy used by students was cognitive reappraisal (71.3%), with most scores falling within the moderate category. This finding indicates that the majority of adolescents are capable of using cognitive approaches to manage their emotions adaptively. The study highlights the importance of support and responsiveness from parents, teachers, and the school environment in helping adolescents develop more adaptive emotional regulation strategies, particularly through quality social interactions and balanced activities.
