Abstract
This study aims to uncover the role of the tomb complex in the history of the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate, as well as to explain the cultural and spiritual significance that continues to thrive among the surrounding community. Utilizing historical methods and a qualitative descriptive approach, this research is based on literature review, direct field observation, and interviews with caretakers and local residents. Findings indicate that the complex serves as the final resting place for important figures such as Susuhunan Abdurrahman, the founder of the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate, along with his family and other religious leaders. Architectural features such as the limasan-style roof, wooden pillars adorned with gold ornaments, and gravestones in the Demak Troloyo style reflect a fusion of Javanese, Islamic, and Malay cultural elements. The complex also functions as a spiritual space that strengthens intergenerational bonds through pilgrimage practices and ancestral reverence. Although located in the heart of the city and facing threats from surrounding economic activities, the site remains a vital part of preserving local historical identity. This study highlights the importance of preserving sites like the Walang Temple, not only as physical heritage but also as a source of learning about cultural, historical, and spiritual values that remain relevant to this day.
