Studi Penerapan Patient Safety di Ruang Rawat Inap Saraf Rumah Sakit Banda Aceh
Main Article Content
Abstract
Patient safety has become a global issue and a phenomenon that affects healthcare systems. The suboptimal implementation of patient safety can lead to physical and psychological injuries, as well as death. The reasons why nurses do not implement patient safety optimally include: 1) lack of motivation, 2) insufficient compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), 3) heavy workload, and 4) inadequate supervision in the wards. This study aims to observe the implementation of patient safety in the neurology inpatient wards of Banda Aceh Hospital. This study is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of 27 nurses, with a sample of 17 nurses selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was done using observation sheets according to the hospital ward SOP. The results of this study show that nurses have optimally implemented effective communication (70.6%) and high-alert medication safety (100%), but the correct patient identification implementation is still suboptimal (52.9%). The hospital should take extra measures to improve the quality assurance unit in prioritizing patient safety, conduct patient satisfaction surveys, and enhance human resource quality through skill development, regular performance evaluations, and prioritizing nurse safety.
